Business Planning

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about Braw Birth and its direction this month. I’ve never tried to run a business before, and to be honest, I find it hard.

I was used to having work plans, appraisals and managers. Having just myself and no funded outcomes is a very different ball game. One of the things I’ve found the hardest is developing patterns or scheduled plans for Braw Birth to have more structure. When I don’t have this, I start to lack confidence in creating and promoting opportunities or feel confident about the work at all.

So I’ve come up with a plan to have a model to be continuously working towards and from. I’m hoping this will give consistency to Braw Birth users too so you know what to expect and when.

I’ve broken the year into quarters;

Jan-March

April-June

July-September

Oct-December

There will be an ongoing cycle of 10 spaces for client availability throughout the year with a waitlist available when Braw Birth becomes fully booked.

Every quarter will include;

  • Braw Birth training for other doulas 6 times a year.

  • The Waiting Room Support Group will be every month of the year. As of today, it is the first Tuesday of every month but this may be subject to change day-wise.

  • I’ll be running all Braw Birth Workshops in a group capacity at a reduced rate in comparison to the 1-1 opportunities. Twice a year.

  • Every month there will be a website refresh and check for needed updates.

  • There will be weekly blogs with July and October being months that I blog every day/ every other day. (I’m loving it this month).

  • Service promotional posts or deep dives will happen more regularly.

  • More sharing of testimonials to show Braw Birth’s impact and people’s experience.

  • Personal posts documenting my own trying to conceive journey and hopefully pregnancy and early parenthood.

  • Events, workshops and collaborations occurring every month.

  • Calendar to include updates, availability and events.

This is helping me have a clearer head and some direction with keeping the momentum of Braw Birth going.
